When Charles Coulson bought the horse and cart carrier business in 1886 he began the Coulson Transport business that endured 125 years. Today Tony Lyons, a descendant of the Coulsons, continues this legacy with Critical Freight- Specialists in Flower & Sensitive Cargo.
In the bloodline
In the years since his great-great-grandfather operated a horse and cart business around Melbourne, Coulson Transport operated liquid transport in rubber bulk collapsible containers, Bdoubles, fuel transport fleet for BP, and Australian Gypsum prior to its sale to Boral. Coulson built a sizable container transport business in later years, eclipsing the general cartage buisness. Coulson Transport was sold to Rocke Bros and then to Mayne Nickless in 1999, ultimately returning to the Rocke Bros in 2003.
